2025 UN Ocean Conference Nizza

Vom 9. bis 13. Juni 2025 findet die UN Ocean Conference (UNOC 2025) in Nizza, Frankreich, statt. Sie ist die dritte Ozeankonferenz der Vereinten Nationen und wird von Frankreich gemeinsam mit Costa Rica ausgerichtet. Auf der internationalen Konferenz sollen Maßnahmen beschleunigt und mobilisiert werden, um die Ozeane, Meere und Meeresressourcen zu erhalten und nachhaltig zu nutzen. Ozeanexpertinnen und Experten aus Politik und Wissenschaft, Zivilgesellschaft und Wirtschaft, wie auch Vertreterinnen und Vertreter internationaler Institutionen und indigener Völker verfolgen das gemeinsame Ziel der Konferenz: die Verabschiedung eines „Nizza Ocean Action Plan“. Die UNOC 2025 leistet damit einen wichtigen Beitrag, das UN-Nachhaltigkeitsziel 14 (SDG14) umzusetzen.

Das Bundesministerium für Forschung, Technologie und Raumfahrt (BMFTR) stellt das deutsche Forschungsschiff METEOR während der UNOC 2025 als Begegnungsstätte für die internationale Gemeinschaft der UN-Ozeandekade zur Verfügung. Die METEOR, co-finanziert vom BMFTR und der Deutschen Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG), liegt vom 9. bis 12. Juni 2025 im Yacht-Hafen in Nizza. Sie dient als Plattform für Akteurinnen und Akteuren aus Politik, Wissenschaft, Wirtschaft und Zivilgesellschaft für Veranstaltungen im Rahmen der UNOC 2025. Rund 30 Events werden auf dem METEOR-Deck und in den Schiffsräumlichkeiten stattfinden. Geplant sind unter anderem wissenschaftliche Podiumsdiskussionen, High-Level-Events, Empfänge und begleitende Multi-Media-Formate. Das Programm finden Sie hier im Überblick.

No Safe Harbour: Exposing the True Beneficiaries of Crimes at Sea

Illegal fishing, trade of endangered species, human and drug trafficking: fishing vessels have become ‘getaway cars’ for criminals at sea. Unscrupulous fishing operators can make use of complex ownership structures that enable masking their illegal activities. This hides who is really profiting from IUU fishing and associated abuses – the so-called beneficial owners. The event will bring together high-level representatives from champion countries who will inspire action by outlining voluntary commitments to collect and disclose information on the beneficial owners of vessels.

The interdisciplinary art, science and education project "WE ARE OCEAN Nice" uses videos, comic strips and an open fishbowl discussion to strengthen civil society engagement in marine protection. By combining art and science, young people are encouraged to understand the ocean better and to take action locally. Project actors and the UNOC delegation will discuss the role of creative approaches for ocean awareness and develop visions for the future.

Wie engagiert sich das Bundesministerium für Forschung, Technologie und Raumfahrt (BMFTR) für einen nachhaltigen Ozean?
Meeresforschung ist Zukunftsforschung: Der Ozean ist eine wichtige Kohlenstoffsenke unseres Planeten. Er liefert Nahrung, Energie und sichert Warenströme – er ist unsere Lebensgrundlage. Daher unterstützt das BMFTR seit vielen Jahren die Forschung zur nachhaltigen Nutzung und zum Schutz des Ozeans. Den Rahmen dafür bildet das Forschungsprogramm der Bundesregierung, „MARE:N“. Es ist die Basis für eine zukunftsorientierte Meeresforschung, für neue Innovationen und Technologien in den Meeren sowie für gute Partnerschaften in der internationalen Zusammenarbeit. Diese internationalen Kooperationen stärkt das BMFTR in der UN-Ozeandekade über verschiedene Forschungsprojekte und bringt sich als Mitglied in der „Ocean Decade Alliance“ aktiv in das internationale Jahrzehnt für die Ozeanforschung ein.

An der Veranstaltung muss mindestens ein deutscher Partner beteiligt sein (Ausschlusskriterium). Die Beteiligung der Wissenschaft ist erwünscht. Zudem werden insbesondere folgende Kriterien bei einer möglicherweise erforderlichen Auswahl berücksichtigt:
- Beitrag zu den Zielen der UN Ocean Conference 2025
- Unterstützung von Wissenstransfer
- Förderung der internationalen Kooperation
- Förderung des wissenschaftlichen Nachwuchses
Auf der METEOR möchten wir möglichst vielfältige Formate anbieten. Daher begrüßen wir besonders Formate mit folgenden Elementen:
- Interaktivität (Beteiligung des Publikums, live und/oder online)
- innovative Methode des Wissensaustausches
- Ansprache und Einbindung vielfältiger Zielgruppen
Die METEOR als Event-Location des Bundesministerium für Forschung, Technologie und Raumfahrt (BMFTR) wird im Zeitraum 09.06. – 12.06.2025 im Yachthafen von Nizza verfügbar sein.
Täglich werden 4 Zeitfenster von je 2 Stunden angeboten. Auch kürzere Events innerhalb dieser 2 Stunden sind möglich, ebenfalls längere und zusammenfassende Zeitfenster, z.B. ein gesamter Nachmittag und Abend oder eine Event-Serie an den verfügbaren Tagen.
Wenn Sie ein Veranstaltungskonzept einreichen, können Sie Ihren Wunsch-Slot und alternative Zeitfenster angeben. Wir versuchen, diese zu berücksichtigen. Um die Veranstaltungen auf der METEOR zeitlich und inhaltlich sinnvoll zu koordinieren, werden wir Ihnen jedoch ggf. alternative Zeiten anbieten.
Die folgende Übersicht dient als Orientierung. Abhängig von der Konferenzplanung können sich die Zeiten noch ändern.
